Discussion of 'Avatar - cross post

Jan. 17th, 2010 | 09:12 pm
posted by: lucy_chronicles in druidry

It seems appropriate to discuss the movie Avatar given the nature of goddess worship, one-ness of nature and spirits depicted in the movie along with various community and other themes.

Frankly, I was preparing myself to be disappointed having read briefly a few newspaper reviews. Instead, I was blown away by the depictions, thought and history that was taken into account writing the screenplay alone. It is obvious James Cameron (writer, director et al.) studied Joseph Campbell's "Power of Myth" and anthropology along with history while creating this gorgeous work of visual art. Yes, other things could have been done differently but WOW, this is a HUGE commercial, massive work bringing so many different concepts and contexts to the world masses. How other to do it beyond in a Sci-Fi or some kind of Fantasy work? It certainly wouldn't receive the recognition sadly, if transmitted via other channels from history to documentary, biography to even science.

Basic question - why the hell isn't anybody talking about it/this, this way in the spiritual realm? Is it just another grave omission of the media purposely ignoring major stories? All i'm seeing in the mainstream media is the discussion of how much money it is making, ($1.6B current worldwide count) people becoming depressed and getting headaches due to the 3D effects and of course, a brief mention in my political blogs (not in the MSM) about the obvious parallels of the USA in multiple foreign wars. (Ask the Iraqi's if they still want us there and most of Afghanistan, Pakistan and even Japan now who is trying to force the US military bases to close getting off it's native land!)

So for anyone who has seen the film - thoughts/opinions/likes/dislikes? intelligent discussion preferred please. My only concern is that the goddess was depicted as ONE god = monotheist. There were spirits but only one god.

Bonus points that it/she was at least female. Yahoo Gaia! ;-)

In time for Halloween, archaeologists have unearthed a witch bottle—a stone jug that may have contained toenails, hair, and other bodily bits to deter witches and other evildoers.

how do they know it was a 'witch' and why is it 'evil' instead of a shaman, doctors or other healers? geesh...

I got his e-mail, it's extremely important! If you live on this planet Earth, then you MUST make yourself aware of this growing pandemic! Please read all the way through this before you judge anyone. I left off the last name of the person who wrote this email so he won't be bombarded with hate mail, everything else is copied and pasted exactly how it is in the e-mail I got.

For the livejournal community goers, I realise this might be seen as spam, but I assure you, it’s not. This is not a chain mail or spam or hate mail, this is an e-mail I got personally from an odler gentleman who is very wise and very brave. I realise it might get deleted, which is exeedingly deplorable, scince no one will be exempt from the pervasive evil from the US and other nations, and everyone needs to know. This is one of the only ways I can get as many people’s attention as possible, so please don’t delete this, please read it, research it, and don’t scoff just becuase it’s shocking. I would not being doing this if I didn’t care about each and every person in this community!

It's very important that you copy and paste this into word program and print it out. Share this information with everyone you know and don't worry about looking foolish, the only thing you are doing is offering them a chance to get some information about the government.

God or Goddess Bless. (or anything else you believe in, because as a human being you have the right to believe in whatever you want).

----------------
My wife, Jackie, says she concurs with everything I say in this e-mail . . .

Foreign troops are now on U.S. soil -- Jackie and I already encountered one of their arrogant minions Sunday in Southern Oregon. He was on a BMW motorcycle with a small ISAF logo on the windshield; and we later saw a Dutch Army van headed south on Interstate 5 the same day.

While this may come as a great SURPRISE to some of you: We are about to go under martial law -- probably next month. I hope and PRAY that I'm wrong, but I don't think I am. All the evidence around us points to it -- the economy has collapsed, the dollar is at zero and about to be discarded, there is a swine flu fear-mongering hoax gaining momentum (but the swine flu "vaccine" is very real, and VERY DEADLY), almost daily, we are being HEAVILY chemtrailed here in the Rogue Valley of Southern Oregon with barium and aluminum and other toxins which are binary catalysts to weaken our immune systems, to be triggered by the toxic swine flu "vaccine." I would strongly advise you to take lots of Vitamin D-3 to prepare for the coming onslaught (which Jackie and I have been doing for more than a year along with natural sunlight) -- and there are foreign troops RIGHT NOW on our soil!

Until the Internet is shutdown (which will also happen very soon to keep us Americans from communicating amongst ourselves) I STRONGLY urge everyone to listen DAILY now to Alex Jones' Internet radio show -- http://www.gcnlive.com/mediaPlayers/odPlayer.php?program=alexJones -- ESPECIALLY TODAY, Tuesday, September 22, 2009 (sorry it's so late in the day getting this written and sent) -- as the pathological killers of the new world order are exponentially ramping-up for martial law and forced vaccination (and gun-grabbing) with NO due process of law, whatsoever -- ALL as our Constitutional rights are now termite-ridden. They mean business, and so should you . . . IF you don't want to be blind-sided. It is up to you to pay heed and educate yourselves NOW, because . . . it is imminent!

READ THIS WELL -- it may be hard to even BELIEVE for some of you -- but, this is what's happening NOW: Brainwashed "law-enforcement" personnel on goon "God-trips," and naive, uninformed military recruits (against the Constitutional Posse Commitatus law) with police dogs and helicopters are already in some of our cities with their dogs barking at passers-by -- AND: 279,000 foreign troops are NOW on U.S. soil (many of whom you can spot on the Interstate Highway system riding BMW motorcycles). Prepare now.

Jackie and I actually had a brief encounter Sunday, while camping up in the mountains, with one of those foreign military assholes on a red BMW motorcycle (a very rare purchase in the USA, as some of you might know) with a small, barely-discernable logo sticker that said ISAF on its small windshield {and when Jackie saw the ending-letter "F" on his sticker, she asked, "What fire department are you with?" -- and he side-stepped that question and off-handedly tried to stutter out an answer, finally deciding upon: "It's just a motorcycle club . . . " Jackie and I already knew about the BMW motorcycle troops from callers in other parts of the U.S. to the Alex Jones Internet radio show.

This motorcyclist SAID he was a Canadian (he might have been), and he was DEFINITELY a military "type" -- and, as a former Naval Aviator, I KNOW 'em, I can spot 'em . . . I WAS military. He also appeared to be working in conjunction with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office who was cruising around us simultaneously, watching . . . This guy was "phishing," and pushy, and he kept trying to get us talking about our "politics," but we just clammed-up, and he finally saw he was getting nowhere with us and packed up and left] -- and, THEN, later: Jackie and I even saw a Dutch Army van on I-5 heading south between Medford and Ashland, the very same day, Sunday). How did we know it was Dutch Army? Well . . . that's what the big sign on it said (duh!) in blue U.N. colors. They are "conditioning" us and softening us up to acquiesce to them . . . pretty blatant of them, though, eh? It's all part of their initial "psy-op" against us.

BTW: for those of you who don't know what ISAF stands for (the logo on the troops' BMW motorcycles), that's: International Security Assistance Force -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Security_Assistance_Force -- and that's ALSO: United Nations and NATO foreign troops, FOLKS -- (I apologize for using Wikipedia as a source, as it would've been rejected by my M.B.A. professors, but it's a pretty comprehensive explanation, nevertheless).

Also:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8UTRVlxRLE Dutch army! ( ISAF ) This is a youtube link abut the Dutch Army in America.

The ISAF was originally set up in 2001 by the united nations security council (I flat REFUSE to capitalize it) to be in Afghanistan, but, my theory is, they've been diverted to the USA to help subjugate US -- We The People of the United States of America. Otherwise, WHY else would the U.S. commander in Afghanistan be "calling" for more U.S. troops to be sent to Afghanistan??? (Hint: so our own troops won't be here to protect US. As soon as that last contingent of good ol' U.S. military forces leaves our shores, the ISAF dogs will be unleashed on US!)

Americans started calling-in from different parts of the country a couple of weeks ago to the Alex Jones Internet radio show about ALSO encountering these foreigners riding around on BMW motorcycles, and now they're here in Southern Oregon! Do you think they're just Europeans on vacation? Go figure some more . . .

My friends and family: this is all part of a diabolical plan (that I realize is too-difficult for many of you to get your genteel, civilized minds around [believe me, I don't want to absorb it, either!], because it's just TOO DIABOLICAL to accept, and many of you will refuse to even read any further, I know) to enforce their Luciferian scheme of mass murdering or putting the U.S. citizenry in concentration camps (FEMA CAMPS!) to turn the USA over to the United Nations and its troops (German army, too -- former East German soldiers) -- troops who will have NO QUALMS about firing on U.S. citizens when our OWN troops wouldn't have the stomach for it -- even if unlawfully ordered to do so -- while our OWN loyal U.S. troops (the ones who have HONORED their Constitutional oaths) have been sent to Iraq and Afghanistan (to fight for who knows what: oil and the opium trade?) -- they will NOT be brought home to defend us, the American people. Why do you think most of good troops are overseas right now??? This was a promise that Henry Kissenger made to the Council on Foreign Relations (I'm sorry I can't find the link to that right now, 'cause I'm in a hurry to get this info out to you): that the U.S. would be turned over to the U.N. by September (he's slightly behind schedule).

Alex Jones (I'm NOT apologizing for being repetitive with the link to his daily Internet radio program) -- http://www.gcnlive.com/mediaPlayers/odPlayer.php?program=alexJones -- is interviewing doctors right now, TODAY, who are strongly advising, in no uncertain terms, NOT to take ANY kind of vaccinations (including Gardasil, which is killing SCORES of young women already) -- and that goes for your kids and our/MY grandchildren, too (but only IF you want them [and yourselves, as well] healthy and whole-hide)! It is up to you as to how cavalier and "kewl" you wish to be about all this. Ignore it if you want . . . and forever regret it. If you take the swine flu shot, you're doomed.

Tell ALL your friends and family (brain-dead, or not!) to WAKE UP, too! While some of them may mock you (just as some of you CLOSEST to ME have derided ME [I don't have to name names: you know who you are] and laugh at you, they will NOT learn the truth about what's REALLY going on in the world and our country if they keep watching and/or listening to sports and so-called "news" on TV and radio (no matter which channel or frequency it may be -- it's ALL corporate controlled by the power-elite)!

I don't care WHAT you think of ME -- and yet, I think a lot of all of YOU! That's why you're getting this e-mail.

Please do not mis-interpret this as yet another ho-hum, Chicken Little, "The Sky Is Falling" message from Max. AMERICA IS FALLING! If you are receiving this e-mail, it's because I care about you. Even if you've been deleting all my e-mails up until now, this is one you should definitely heed and save . . . OR, just keep your heads buried in the sand -- it's up to you.

PLEASE: Shortcut the following link on your desktop and don't lose it. Again, I am very serious! I don't want any of you, my wonderful friends, to be blindsided by the pure HELL that's being unleashed on us -- even as you're reading this. Here's the link to listen to what's REALLY going on in the world at ANY TIME OF THE DAY OR NIGHT (as long as it lasts) -- it plays in a continuous loop for 24 hours, until 9 a.m. Pacific/11 a.m. Central, at which time he starts the new program and interviews for the day: http://www.gcnlive.com/mediaPlayers/odPlayer.php?program=alexJones

Also, go to Dr. Len Horowitz's website: www.fluscam.com -- and ALWAYS, but ALWAYS, check the articles that keep changing (sometimes, hourly) on Alex Jones' web sites of: www.infowars.com and www.prisonplanet.com -- unlike what is on the mainstream media network of lies, none of it is based on mere opinion and/or coverup: it is ALL based upon the facts (harsh as those facts are). This is REALITY, I'm so sorry to say.

Sincerely,

Max

So, who out there is studied-up on their Greek / Roman pantheon? I wrote a sonnet some year back that had refound it's ways into my hands. Now I remember doing a lot of research for this piece but I am still unsure about a few thins and before I set it to music I would like to get some opinions on the correctness of it. Even though I no longer see Apollo as my patron God, I still think It would be nice to remember him. So here goes nothing...

Hail Phoebus Apollo
Lord of the Silver Bow, Far Shooting Archer God
God of light, Shinning rays chasing away the dark
God of music, inspiration to passions and higher things
God of truth, who can tell no lies and to whom no lies can be told
God of health, sustainer of life and happiness
Wolf God, The Lycian, God of Lycia
Hear the call of a barbarian(Not Greek or Roman) woman and come if you will
Know the truths in my heart
Bless my song so it may please your ears
Grace my body with health so it may honor you
May your light forever wash over me and I will never fear the dark
May I walk your path a bright glad servant and understand your teachings
Delian of Delos
Pythian
The Lycian
Phoebus Apollo

It seems it's time to remind aspiring members of this community that there is a reading comprehension test to pass before you're membership application is approved. Since I have had to reject at least 10 people's membership applications over the last month for failing this test, I would recommend that anyone who wants to join, or wonders why they were rejected, go back to the community info page and read it. There are clear instructions, right underneath the "join" button that will explain everything.

He speaks to me in the high wind and and dark places. He is golden light and radiance yet I can not see. He tells me secrets I do not understand and holds out a great strong hand. I do not know, do i take it? or do I run? Are you God or be you Devil? What now? Where to? My stepping stone is slowing sinking under me but what stone do I jump to next?
The moon she laughs at my mortal trials. I throw a fist to her and tell her to try it if she think it is so easy. She, of course, shows me up.

So A bit of an update...I have started making my dress today but I fear that it might all be in vain. I honestly want to go to the FLaRF. I need to make friends and not feel like I am alone in this word. Long story short guys I am 27 years old and I have been moving all around the south ever since my (No Drama) divorce some years back. Thought I was settling down in Ft. Lauderdale when (Due to the room mate and the Boy Friend loosing jobs) we lost the apartment back in November. Room mate moves back home out west someplace, My boyfriend moved to VA to love with his family, and I am in Ormond living with my grandmother. I have had very little social life for years and not that I am living with her I have no social life what so ever...Please I want to make some new friends...It looks as if my one friend in Orlando is not going to make it down :( I can take a bus to Ft. Lauderdale but I still need to find someone willing share a room or tent with. I am a very easy going girl and I don't care to help out (So long as no sexual favors are asked.) So what do you say? Can anyone help me?

Anyone going to the Ft. Lauderdale Ren fair? I am looking for someone to go down with and stay...Hopefuly a camp? As we all know times is hard and I am strapped for cash but I aint no free loader either. I have some swords and things maybe we can trade and I would be more than happy to work around the camp, keeping the fire-up, fetching water, cooking, etc. Just let me know. I use to go a lot back in TN as a vocal performer and am working on my wardrobe again. Maybe we can come to some sort of an arraignment? Maybe an Indentured servitude for the fair...that would be historically accurate, no?

Okay, damn it, I'm hooked. Second Life is very cool, from a "techno-Pagan" standpoint. I sat in on a guided meditation tonight (which I found by accident) and got to meet some nice people and chat about energy work. Also, while my avatar sat in the group circle, meditating on a cushion in the middle of a dark woods--an animated wild red squirrel randomly came up and started sniffing at me. So it was pretty cool. :)

Damn you, interwebs!

Jim: You playing that game again?
Dwight: Second Life is not a game. It is a multi-user virtual environment. It doesn't have points or scores, it doesn't have winners or losers.
Jim: Oh it has losers.

But after signing up a week or so ago, I'm not sure I have the computer programming skills to use it very effectively. Anyone at all with experience or advice, I'd love to hear from you! Thanks. :)

More on my Stealth Altar

Dec. 23rd, 2008 | 10:19 am
posted by: fey_struck in druidry

So I got a cheep ass digital camera and love taking pictures with it...I feel like a child with a new toy ^_^. So I took some pictures of my hidden altar to show you all. I also wanted to talk about how things have been going. Come to find out my grandma knows that I am not Christian. We had a talk about it. I said somethings that she agrees with and some she did not. She said a lot of things that I did not agree with but I did not press the issue. Apparently witches are like nuns who a married to the Devil...who knew :P
Eh that does not suspire me that she would think stuff like that. As a child she would make me watch this movie on the evils of Halloween and how pagans would sacrifice babies. So when is the next sacrifice guys?
Anywho she leaves me alone on it most of the time, She'll do things like leave the 700 club on and I can swear she turns it up when that old man starts ranting the sinner's prayer. Like your T.V. is a great spiritual medium. Sigh. Sorry about the ranting myself but I am all on my own for the next two weeks and given my situation am not going to celebrate Yule. I just don't want to bring myself down you know...Soo pictures

This is the altar that sits on top of my computer hutch. I know the pictures are a little blurry but what can you expect from a 20.00 camera?

God and Goddess candles and my chalice. In the back is my sword, it is kind of hard to see clause I keep it in the sheath. My grandma gave me the candle holders. I feel a little bad for her giving them to me for my candles without knowing what they stood for, but it is better than explaining why not to use them.

I could not get a very good pic of the image I am using for my God but I could get one for my Goddess. Now, just hear me out before you throw me to the wolves, but this Wonder Woman figurer that is acting as my makeshift Goddess has been really working out for me. You see I am going thought a lot of changes in my life and most of them have to do with my own will power and want to be a healthier, stronger person. Well she kind of inspires me to be so. Out of all that heroic female icons of the modern era she stands out. Sure her costumes have been skimpy here and there but now once have I ever seen her as a sex object, unlike most of the heroines. She stands as tall as the men, can stand toe to toe with any of the boys, is diplomatic but not afraid to pick-up a sword (or a lasso), and can not understand why women of all shapes, sized, and race do not see themselves as anything less than amazing. Looking at her every day drives me to be strong, beautiful, and confident. No matter how much I might hurt or just want to be lazy. In the end isn't that what a Goddess or a God figure meant to do? Inspire.

Pictures of my winter solstice altar, in the Druidic tradition celebrated as "Alban Arthan" (Welsh for "light of winter").

For me, the Yule/Christmas season is mostly about remembering family traditions that have been passed down from my grandparents (along with lots of--let's be honest--pretty ugly ornaments). I have no problem celebrating a kind of "secular" Christmas and decorating my whole apartment, but this year I decided to dedicate my bedroom altar specifically to the Druidic festival of the winter solstice. I have a main altar and a small side altar dedicated to faery work.

Think about it

Why is it that when you bring up the horrible things that have been done in the name of Christ by history's Men of God that Christians will say "Oh well that is not what the bible teaches", yet never condone the act? Even in modern day. When someone's car gets flipped for the "Blessed Be" bumper sticker, or a "New Age" shop gets the windows smashed, and I have even seen a Unitarian church get vandalized it is "Well those people are devil worshipers and deserved it."
Correct me if I am wrong but the message of Christ was to love all and be good to your fellow man, right? I don't recall anything in the bible about Christ saying "Be good to each other and kind, except that dirty Jew."
**Sigh** I thought about this after having a long talk with my Grandma about the things that have been done in the name of Christ and how it is wrong. She gets her news from the 700 club and it is very one sided....Gods I hate that old man on there.
Anyway, The point is Christians have this warped view of the world that is (for the most part) not taught in their most sacred book...I don't know. How do you reason with the mad?

I don't know, I'm still learning

Dec. 1st, 2008 | 12:26 am
posted by: spiritualcanvas in druidry

Lately it seems all around me people are discussing religion, spirituality, the divine, and beliefs in terms of how to define it, what it is and isn't, who's a poser, what's real, etc.
So I wanted to write a little about myself and get some opinions. I'm being very raw and honest here, and I don't think I've ever really discussed this with anybody before, so I'm very interested in what people have to say.
As a child, my family was generally agnostic Christian... God, angels, jesus, but that's it. My mom and grandma grew up in a generally Mormon family but i'm thankful that they never passed it on to me, since I find it to be a lot of rubbish, but that's just me. I basically believed in God and angels because that's what I was taught but never gave it much thought. Never went to church, never prayed or said my blessings before bed, etc. Was very curious however with the supernatural, psychics, aliens, etc.
On my 13th birthday a friend of my mom's gave me a book on Wicca by Silver Ravenwolf. Now, I know a lot of people think she's a fluff bunny, etc. and generally don't like her, but damn that book hit home for me and made more sense to me than anything else I had ever read, and I do have a lot of respect for her as an author and what she teaches.
I began reading books by Silver Ravenwolf as well as Scott Cunningham, but while Wicca and Paganism rang true for me much more than anything else I'd ever learned about, it still didn't quite seem to fit. I went through my fluff bunny phase but got over it quickly.
At 16, went through existentialist Athiest phase, but shortly thereafter went through a bunch of life changes and trials that made me rethink life and my beliefs. I realized that I don't know everything, no one does, and life isn't simple and black and white, and some things are simply unexplainable by rationale and science.
During this point in my life, I was 18-19 and went through a big re-evaluation of my beliefs and spirituality. I read and read about religion and spirituality, took a Religious Studies class in college, and since then, I am 20 now and frankly I'm not sure where I fit.
I consider myself Eclectic... that's the best, most specific way I can describe my beliefs, which isn't very specific at all. I just don't know where or what I am, but unlike my younger days, i don't feel such an urgent need to define it, but curiosity and a bit of a feeling of being lost.
I believe in a lot of Buddhist, Wiccan, and Pagan teachings, a bit of Hindu as well. I do believe there is a divine force out there, I'm just not sure what or who it is. And as far as Christianity, Islam, etc. I have a lot of problems with their teachings as far as Hell, "Sin", homosexuality, etc.
I think that the deities of the world are all just facets and different interpretations of this supreme force, though I don't really know how to define this thing other than as the universe, love, life, etc. I am a very strong believer in Astrology and have been studying it for the past few months.I've been also studying and practicing Lucid Dreaming, as well as communicating with the "other side". I also believe in karma very much so as I've observed it first hand. I believe in "Magick" or however you want to define it. I also believe that Prayer and positive, proactive thinking do work. I am an artist and am learning massage therapy as well as color and crystal/stone therapy. I meditate regularly as well. My beliefs basically go off of what I have experienced and learned to be true first hand. I'm a bit of a skeptic sometimes.
I have an alter, a small one, but its mine and I cherish it. It brings me comfort and inspiration and a place to pray, spellcast, meditate, and think. It consists of a picture of my foster mom who died over a year ago, a few happy chinese buddhas (the fat ones) as they've always been very important to me as a deity, spiritual representation, however you want to call it, a Shiva Statuette, A Goddess charm (The Goddess and femininity are very important to me), some of my stones such as my rose quartz that I take everywhere for me (promotes love, calm, especially for children of abusive parents from what I've read), and my meditation balls, which are especially important to me.
I try not to judge anybody or start arguments, as I really don't like conflict or hurting others (yes, I'm a wimp). I'm somewhat of a pacifist, though I'm prone to being a typical mischevious Gemini. I try to treat others as I would like to be treated, be kind to everyone and help people when I can.I've been very much a victim to cruelty and abuse, and frankly I hate the idea of anyone suffering.  Sure I understand its a part of life and I can't help everyone, but I'm the type if you're not feeling the best I'll give you a hug, a cup of tea, and a back massage, and probably make you a bead animal full of love.
So this is my little musing and I would love some feedback, guidence, observations, advice, anything you want to offer me.
